Home is Where the Art is V

For our 9th event, we have an amazingly talented actor, director, writer and teacher, an up and coming singer/songwriter, and a legendary jazz drummer presenting his newly released memoir, all taking over another Maynooth sitting room.

Des Hopkins
Des Hopkins is a legendary jazz drummer from Clane, Co. Kildare who has toured extensively around Ireland and the UK since the late 1950s. This March, Des released “Showbands and all that Jazz: Memoirs of an Irish Drummer” under his label, HiHat Publishing. We are so excited have Des out to Home is Where the Art is to talk about his new book and writing process. He will also have the book on sale for a special discounted rate for Common Grounds attendees. Here is an interview Des recently did with RTE discussing his new memoir: http://rte.ie/r.html?rii=b9_20956702_1526_22-03-2016_

Saoirse Casey
Saoirse Casey is a very talented up and coming singer/songwriter who will be sharing some of her original songs and talking about her creative processes. Prepare to be mesmerised by Saoirse’s honey-sweet music! Here is Saoirse’s original song Mother Bear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M-h3qOgjPo

David Scott
David Scott is an Australian born actor, teacher, director and writer who founded his own theatre company, Company D Theatre, in 2006. We are so looking forward to hearing David talk about his work!
